  • Grammatical Correctness: Students will focus on improving sentence structure, punctuation, and overall grammatical accuracy, critical for both academic and business contexts.

  • Vocabulary Development: Participants will work on expanding their vocabulary, particularly in the areas of academic and business English, to write more precisely and effectively.

  • Tone and Diction: Understanding the appropriate tone (formal vs. informal) and diction (word choice) for different writing contexts will be a core part of the course, enabling students to tailor their writing for various audiences.

  • Editing and Revision Skills: Emphasis will be placed on reviewing and refining writing through self-editing techniques, peer feedback, and instructor input to produce polished final drafts.

  • Assignments: The course includes a variety of writing tasks, including:

    • Short Writing Assignments: Frequent practice through shorter tasks that help solidify new concepts.

    • Quizzes: These assess students’ understanding of grammatical rules and vocabulary.

    • Journal Entries: A more personal, reflective writing practice that allows students to explore their own ideas and interests.

  • Multimedia Learning Materials: The course offers a combination of readings and videos to enhance learning, ensuring students can access the material in different formats to support their understanding.

By the end of the course, students should have a stronger grasp of the conventions and expectations of academic and business writing, along with improved grammatical, vocabulary, and editing skills, empowering them to communicate more effectively in professional and academic settings.
