ABOUT THE COURSE :
Medical Neuroscience is a course that explores the organization and functioning of the central nervous system and its relationship with human behavior. It covers neural systems in the brain and spinal cord that are responsible for sensation, bodily action, memory, emotion, and cognition. The course aims to provide a foundation for understanding impairments that arise from injury, disease, or dysfunction of the central nervous system. It is a six-unit course that covers neuroanatomy, neural signaling, sensory and motor systems, brain development, and cognition. This online course covers the core concepts presented in most first-year neuroscience courses in medical schools but excludes some topics and learning experiences that are only available in the corresponding course offered in Duke University's School of Medicine.
