Chinese Government Scholarship - Bilateral Programs (CSC Type A):
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
- For undergraduate programs: high school graduates under 25.
- For master’s programs: bachelor’s degree holders under 35.
- For doctoral programs: master’s degree holders under 40.
- General scholar programs: high school graduates under 45.
- Senior scholar programs: master’s degree holders or associate professors under 50.
- Applicants apply via their country's dispatching authorities and then apply to a Chinese university through the CSC system.
Chinese Government Scholarship - Silk Road Program (CSC Type B):
- Applicants must be from countries along the "One Belt One Road" initiative.
- Minimum HSK 3 (180) for bachelor’s programs and HSK 4 (180) for master’s/Ph.D. programs.
- or direct major entry: HSK 4 (222) or HSK 5 (180).
- For English-taught programs: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80, or an official letter certifying English proficiency.
- Age limits are the same as for CSC Type A.
Chinese Government Scholarship - High-Level Postgraduate Program (CSC Type B):
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
- For master’s programs: bachelor’s degree holders under 35.
- For doctoral programs: master’s degree holders under 40.
- Language requirements: HSK 4 for Chinese-taught programs; HSK 5 for direct entry. For English-taught programs: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80.
Chinese Government Scholarship - Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) University Program:
- Open to partner universities within the SCO University.
- Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals, graduate students under 35.
- For Chinese-taught programs: HSK 5 (180); for English-taught programs: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80.

Application Form: Complete the Chinese Government Scholarship application form through the CSC portal.

Admission Notice or Invitation Letter: Obtain this document from the Chinese host university.
Personal Statement/Study Plan: A detailed study plan or research proposal outlining your academic goals, research interests, and motivation to study in China (usually 800–1,000 words).
Academic Transcripts: Provide official transcripts from your previous university studies (bachelor’s, master’s, etc.).

Contact the Chinese Host University (Optional): First, reach out to China University of Petroleum (Beijing) to obtain an admission notice or invitation letter.
Online Application in CSC Portal: Visit the CSC Online Application System and create an account. Fill in all required details and upload the necessary documents (see the required documents list below). Use the university's agency number 11414 when applying.
University Application: In parallel, you need to apply through the CUP university portal: CUP Application Portal.
The application should meet the university’s admission standards. Upon approval, you'll receive a pre-admission notice.
Submit Required Documents: Submit all the necessary documents both to the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) portal and to CUP’s university portal before the application deadlines.
Deadlines: Keep track of deadlines and ensure your application is submitted by the specified date. Usually, these deadlines are between early January and early March, but check the portal for the most up-to-date information.

Once you've completed these steps, your application will be reviewed by both the university and CSC. After the review, you'll receive feedback regarding the outcome.

Full Tuition Coverage: Scholarship recipients will have their tuition fees waived for the entire duration of their study.
Monthly Stipend: For general scholars (undergraduates and master’s students): CNY 3,000 per month. For senior scholars (Ph.D. students or faculty members): CNY 3,500 per month.
Accommodation: Free on-campus : Recipients will have access to comprehensive medical insurance during their stay in China.
