The Displaced Arab Researchers (DAR) Fellowship Program, launched by QRDI, offers a lifeline to researchers from Palestine, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, whose careers have been disrupted by ongoing conflicts. With over 30 million people displaced across the Arab world, many scientists and academics have been forced to abandon their work. The DAR fellowship provides these displaced experts with an opportunity to continue their research in Qatar, in collaboration with the country's leading universities and research institutions. You must have a Ph.D. or the highest degree in your field (as listed in the program’s guidelines).
You must have a passport or travel document from Palestine, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen.
You can only apply once per program cycle.

For Applicants (Primary Research Mentors):

You must be a permanent member of a Qatari institution with an approved research office.
You must have a Ph.D. or the highest degree in your field (as listed in the program’s guidelines).
You can only nominate one fellow per cycle.

For Submitting Institutions:

Your institution must have an approved Research Office (RO) to nominate candidates.

For the Fellow (Researcher): Copy of Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree: Proof of your academic qualifications.
- Passport or travel document: A valid passport or travel document from Palestine, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): A detailed CV highlighting your academic and research background.
- Research Proposal: A comprehensive description of the research project you plan to undertake during the fellowship, including objectives, methods, and expected outcomes.
- Recommendation Letters: Letters of support from previous academic or research institutions (if required by the program).
For the Primary Research Mentor (PRM):
- Proof of Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree: Academic credentials of the PRM.
- Letter of Commitment: A statement from the PRM confirming their willingness to mentor the fellow and their role in the research project.
- Affiliation Proof: Documentation showing the PRM’s permanent affiliation with a Qatari institution with an approved research office.
For the Submitting Institution:
- Institution Approval Documents: Evidence that the institution has an approved research office (Research Office or RO).
- Institutional Letter of Support: A formal letter from the submitting institution affirming support for the fellow and commitment to the research project.

Check Eligibility: Ensure that both the fellow (researcher) and the Primary Research Mentor (PRM) meet the eligibility requirements listed in the program guidelines.
Find a Research Mentor: The fellow must collaborate with a Primary Research Mentor who is permanently affiliated with a Qatari institution that has an approved research office.
Prepare Required Documents: Fellows need to gather academic and identification documents, including a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree and a passport or travel document from Palestine, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen.
The PRM should provide their academic qualifications and institution's details.
Submit the Application: The Qatari institution (through the approved Research Office) submits the application on behalf of the fellow.
Ensure that all required documents are uploaded and the nomination is submitted before the deadline.
Follow Up: Once submitted, you can track the progress of the application through the research office of the submitting institution.

Annual Stipend: Fellows receive an annual stipend of QAR 240,000, which covers their living expenses for the duration of the research project.
Travel Costs: The fellowship also covers two one-way travel tickets:
- One joining air ticket to Qatar at the start of the fellowship.
- One repatriation ticket upon completion of the project.
- Total travel costs are capped at QAR 10,000.
Additional Costs Covered by Host Institution: The host institution is responsible for covering other necessary expenses, including:
- Housing.
- Health insurance.
- Research consumables and materials needed for the fellow’s research.
