Program Requirements
- Candidates must fulfill the specific eligibility requirements of the program they are applying for at Xiamen University.
Educational Background and Age Limits (as of September of the academic year)
- Bachelor’s Programs: Applicants must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent with excellent academic performance and be under the age of 25.
- Master’s Programs: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with excellent academic performance and be under the age of 35.
- Doctoral Programs: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent with excellent academic performance and be under the age of 40.
Exclusivity of Scholarships
- Recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship are not permitted to accept any other scholarships (except for one-time bonuses) sponsored by any Chinese governmental entities, universities, or colleges during the same academic period.
- Violations, such as concealing funding, will result in disqualification from the scholarship, mandatory repayment of received funds, and a three-year ban from applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship.

Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship
- Completed in Chinese or English, and signed by the applicant.
Passport Copy
- A clear scan of the passport home page. If the current passport expires before September 2025, applicants must renew their passport before applying.
Notarized Highest Diploma
- Applicants must submit their highest degree certificate. Prospective graduates should provide proof of current student status. Non-English or non-Chinese documents must include notarized translations.
Academic Transcripts
- Official transcripts for all completed undergraduate and postgraduate programs, sealed and issued by the academic institution. Non-English transcripts require notarized translations.
Language Qualification Certificates
- For Chinese-taught programs: Valid HSK reports matching the required proficiency level.
- For other language-taught programs: Relevant certificates like IELTS or TOEFL, per university requirements.
Pre-admission Documents
- Includes an official admission letter, pre-admission letter, or invitation letter from a prospective supervisor, sealed by the international student admissions department.
- Should detail applicant information, academic status, study timeline, and supervisor details, if applicable.
Study Plan Proposal
- A detailed study plan written in Chinese or English, containing at least 1,000 words. For doctoral applicants, the proposal must be signed by their Chinese supervisor.
Recommendation Letters
- Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English. These should evaluate the applicant’s abilities, objectives, and potential growth.
Art Samples (if applicable)
- For art or design majors, applicants must submit their work via the system or directly to the university.
Guardian Documents (if under 18)
- Legal guardian documents for applicants under 18.
Foreigner Physical Examination Form
- Completed in English, with all required details, the physician’s signature, hospital stamp, and a sealed photograph. The form is valid for six months.
Non-criminal Record Certificate
- A certificate issued by the local public security authority, valid within six months of the application submission date.

Complete the CSC Online Application
- Visit the CSC Online Application System.
- Select Program Category: Type B and enter the Agency No. of XMU: 10384.
- Fill out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships in Chinese or English and ensure it is signed by the applicant.
- Print the completed form.
Complete the XMU Online Application
- Visit the XMU Application Portal.
- Upload a scanned copy of the completed CSC Application Form to the XMU system.
- Note: There is no need to mail physical application materials. Refer to Part XI of the prospectus for detailed requirements and procedures.
Submit Pre-Acceptance Letter (Postgraduate Applicants Only)
- Postgraduate applicants (Master’s and PhD programs) must obtain a pre-acceptance letter signed by their prospective supervisor and stamped by the relevant college.
- Upload the pre-acceptance letter to both the XMU Application Portal and the CSC Online Application System
