Federal Environmental Foundation Scholarships
The DBU (German Federal Environmental Foundation) offers doctoral scholarships to support innovative research in environmental protection and nature conservation. Open to all academic disciplines, the scholarship provides financial support for up to 36 months, including a monthly grant of €1,600, additional material costs, and family allowances. Recipients also benefit from personal mentoring, interdisciplinary exchange, and networking events with environmental experts, fostering a collaborative environment for developing sustainable solutions.
The program aims to advance scientific knowledge, develop solutions to current environmental challenges, and qualify young scientists with strong environmental competence. Eligible applicants must hold an above-average degree and propose research focused on solving pressing environmental issues. Applications must be submitted in German and are accepted twice a year, with deadlines on January 15 and June 15; the application portal opens approximately two months prior to each deadline.
