The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme, MTCP Scholarship 2026 is a scholarship offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia for outstanding graduates from eligible MTCP recipient countries. The scholarship is available for students who want to study a full-time Master’s degree in Malaysia.

This scholarship supports selected fields that are important for development, including ICT, Economy and Trade, STEM, Food Security and Agriculture Technology, Islamic Finance, Law, Public Administration, Policy Studies, and Sustainable Environmental Science. The scholarship does not apply to Nursing, Medicine, or Clinical Pharmacy courses.

Applicants must be from an eligible MTCP recipient country.
Applicants must apply for a full-time Master’s degree only.
Applicants must be 45 years old or below at the time of application.
Applicants must have at least:Second Class Upper Honours, or
CGPA 3.0, or
Equivalent undergraduate qualification.
Applicants must provide English language proof, such as:
- IELTS minimum score 6, or
- TOEFL iBT minimum score 60, or
- Proof that previous degree was taught in English.
Applicants must be in excellent health and submit a valid medical report.
Applicants must have a full offer letter, conditional offer letter, or proof of university application from a supported Malaysian university.

Passport information page with at least 12 months validity.
Undergraduate academic transcript.
Official grading system explanation, if the transcript does not show CGPA, marks, or score percentage.
English language proof, such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or English-medium instruction letter.
Curriculum Vitae, CV.
Medical report valid within six months from the application date.
Two recommendation letters with signature and official stamp.
Full offer letter, conditional offer letter, or proof of university application from a supported Malaysian university.
Certified English translation for documents not in English.

Register through the official MTCP scholarship system.
Complete the online application form.
Upload all required documents in PDF format.
Submit the application.
Check the application system and email regularly for updates.
Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an online interview.

Full tuition fees paid directly to the university.
Monthly allowance paid to the student’s Malaysian bank account.
One-time economy class flight ticket from the student’s nearest international airport to Malaysia.
Return economy class flight ticket to the student’s home country after completing the program.
Scholarship duration:
- 24 months for coursework Master’s programs.
- 36 months for mixed-mode or research Master’s programs.
Opportunity to study in Malaysia at a supported university.

Is the MTCP Scholarship the same as the MIS Scholarship?

No. MTCP is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, while MIS is under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

Can I apply for both MTCP and MIS?

Yes. Applicants may apply for both, but selection is not guaranteed. MTCP scholars cannot have more than one sponsor.

Can I apply for undergraduate or PhD studies?

No. The MTCP Scholarship is only for Master’s degree studies.

Do I need a university offer letter?

Yes. A full offer letter is required for the scholarship award. If you do not have it yet, you may upload a conditional offer letter or proof of university application.

Does the scholarship cover application fees or visa costs?

No. University application fees, visa fees, and related expenses are paid by the applicant.

Can I submit missing documents after the deadline?

No. Applications without all required documents by the deadline will not be considered.

Can I study online from my home country?

No. MTCP scholars must be physically present in Malaysia for the duration of the Master’s program.
