To apply for the MUDS PhD program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Master’s Degree: Applicants should hold a Master's degree (MSc or equivalent) in one of the following areas:Computer science, data science, computational science, with a focus on data analysis, statistics, algorithms, information theory, or machine learning.
Domain sciences with a strong emphasis on computer science or data science.
Interdisciplinary study programs with substantial components in computer science, such as bioinformatics or geoinformatics.
Provisional Certificate: Applicants who have not yet completed their Master's degree at the time of application may submit a provisional certificate or bona fide statement from their university, stating their current marks and expected graduation date.

English Proficiency: Non-native English speakers must demonstrate their English language proficiency. This can be done by providing proof that a significant part of their education was conducted in English, a statement from the university or supervisor, or a recent English language test certificate (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS).

Application Rounds: There are two application rounds each year, one in late fall and the other in late spring. Check the current application schedule on the MUDS website.
Submit Application: Apply through the MUDS application portal by filling out the online form and uploading all required documents.
Master's Completion: If you are finishing your Master's degree, you must be able to start your PhD by the beginning of the winter semester (October 1) or earlier. Submit your current transcript and provide the Master's certificate upon graduation.
Interview Process: If selected for an on-site interview, travel expenses will be reimbursed. Ensure you have the necessary travel documents, such as a passport or visa.
