The SI Swedish Institute Scholarships provide a fully funded opportunity for international students from 42 eligible countries to pursue a master’s degree in Sweden. Funded by the Swedish Government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the scholarship covers all expenses, including tuition fees, plane tickets, and living costs. Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of one of the 42 eligible countries.
Previous Studies: The scholarship is open to students who have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Professional Experience: Candidates must have at least 3,000 hours of work experience, which can include full-time employment, part-time jobs, internships, or voluntary work.
Leadership Experience: Applicants should demonstrate leadership skills and show a commitment to contributing to sustainable development in their home country or globally.
Admission: Candidates must apply and be admitted to a master’s program at a Swedish university, and only those with full-time master’s admission are eligible.
Non-Dual Citizenship: Applicants should not have Swedish or EU citizenship or permanent residency in Sweden.

Motivation Letter: A detailed letter explaining why you are applying for the scholarship and how your studies will contribute to sustainable development in your country or globally. The Swedish Institute provides a specific template to follow.
Curriculum Vitae (CV): Your CV must be submitted using the Swedish Institute’s CV template (maximum of three pages). It should outline your academic and professional background, focusing on leadership and work experience.
Proof of Work and Leadership Experience: You need to provide evidence of a minimum of 3,000 hours of work experience, including leadership responsibilities. This can be full-time or part-time employment, internships, or voluntary work. The proof can be in the form of: Employment contracts Employer reference letters or certificates or Detailed job descriptions signed by supervisors
Letters of Reference: At least two reference letters from people who know you professionally or academically. These letters should highlight your leadership abilities, work experience, and potential to contribute to global development. The references must follow the Swedish Institute’s format and be signed by the referee.
Copy of Passport: A scanned copy of your passport showing your personal details, such as your name, nationality, and photo.
Admission Proof: Proof that you have applied to an eligible master’s program at a Swedish university. You can submit the admission letter (once received) or proof of application from UniversityAdmissions.se.
Proof of Citizenship: A document that confirms you are a citizen of one of the 42 eligible countries. This can usually be verified through your passport copy.

Apply for a Master's Program : 15 Oct 2024 – 15 Jan 2025
- Apply for up to four master’s programs via UniversityAdmissions.se. Eligible programs for the SI scholarship will be listed by 1 Nov 2024.
- Save your personal application number for the scholarship application. Note that Stockholm School of Economics, Konstfack, and Stockholm University of the Arts have separate processes.
- Missing deadlines or incorrect procedures will disqualify your scholarship application.
Apply for the Global Professionals Scholarship: 10 Feb 2025 – 26 Feb 2025
- Submit your application on the SI portal with the following documents:CV (max 3 pages), Proof of Work and Leadership Experience, Two Reference Letters, Passport/National ID, and Motivation Statement. Templates will be available on 1 Nov 2024. Ensure all forms are submitted in English and correctly uploaded as PDFs.
SI Screening and Evaluation: 27 Feb 2025 – 26 Mar 2025
- SI screens and evaluates applications based on eligibility and alignment with leadership and global development goals.
Notifications from University Admissions: 27 Mar 2025
- SI only considers applicants who have been admitted or conditionally admitted to eligible programs. Any changes to your admission status will disqualify you.
Final Evaluation and Announcement: 27 Mar 2025 – 24 Apr 2025
- SI finalizes the selection of 150 scholarship recipients. Results will be published on 24 Apr 2025, and successful applicants will be notified via email.

Full Tuition Fee Coverage: The tuition fee is paid directly by the Swedish Institute to the university each semester.
Monthly Allowance:^Recipients receive a monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to cover living expenses during their study period.
Travel Grant: A one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 is provided to cover travel costs. For scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, the grant is SEK 10,000. This grant does not apply to students already residing in Sweden.
SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP): Scholarship recipients gain membership in the NFGP, which offers opportunities for professional growth and networking with peers while in Sweden.
SI Alumni Network: After the scholarship period ends, scholars become part of the SI Alumni Network, providing continued networking and professional development opportunities long after graduation.
