CAS-ANSO Scholarships – Fully Funded Master’s & PhD

The Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO) for the Belt and Road Regions is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2018. Its founding members include the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and 36 global scientific institutions and universities. ANSO’s mission is to strengthen global scientific capacity, promote technological cooperation, and improve human well-being through collaborative research and education.

The CAS-ANSO Scholarship, launched in 2019 (formerly the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents), supports outstanding young scientists worldwide. The scholarship offers degree and non-degree programs, funding 100–200 Master’s and 300 Ph.D. students annually to study at leading Chinese institutions such as:

• University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)

• University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS)

• CAS institutes across China

In 2022, the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO Ph.D. Scholarship was introduced as a special sub-category. This program selects up to 40 Ph.D. candidates from developing countries each year, with priority given to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and female applicants. While CAS provides core funding, TWAS and UNESCO contribute additional support to ensure broader inclusion and diversity in scientific education.
