The Chinese Government Scholarship – High Level Graduate Programs at the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) is a fully funded initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It supports exceptional international students to pursue full-time master’s or doctoral studies in China.

CUFE is a leading national university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly supported by the Ministry of Finance and the Beijing Municipal Government. Recognized under Project 211, the Project 985 Innovation Platform, and the Double First-Class Initiative, CUFE is distinguished for its world-class disciplines in applied economics (rated A+ nationally) and its reputation as the “cradle of financial and economic experts in China.” The university is located in Beijing, offering direct access to the capital’s governmental, financial, and cultural hubs.

Eligibility :
  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health.

  • Master’s applicants must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.

  • PhD applicants must hold a recognized master’s degree and be under 40 years old.

  • Meet CUFE’s academic and ethical standards and comply with Ministry of Education Document No.12 (2020).

  • Satisfy the language proficiency requirements:

    • Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 5, score ≥ 210.

    • English-taught programs: valid IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, Duolingo, or other recognized proof of English proficiency.

Required documents :
  • CSC Application Form (Type B, Agency No. 10034).

  • CUFE Application Form (automatically generated by CUFE Online System, with scanned signature).

  • Passport copy (personal information page).

  • Degree certificates (bachelor’s/master’s) or enrollment certificate for current students.

  • Academic transcripts from all higher education stages.

  • Language proficiency certificate (HSK / IELTS / TOEFL / Duolingo, as applicable).

  • Study plan (800–1,000 words).

  • Master’s thesis or equivalent (for PhD applicants).

  • Two recommendation letters (from associate professors or higher).

  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

  • Non-Criminal Record Certificate (issued by local authorities).

Note: All documents must be in Chinese or English. Non-Chinese/English documents require notarized translations. Submitted materials and application fees are non-refundable.

How to apply :

Step 1 – Apply on CSC System
Log in at http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn.
Select Type B and enter Agency No. 10034 (CUFE).
Download and sign the CSC Application Form.

Step 2 – Apply on CUFE System
Register at CUFE International Student Service System.
Complete and submit all required materials online.

Step 3 – Pay Application Fee
Submit the 600 RMB application fee via the online payment platform
(WeChat, Alipay, or international credit card accepted; wire transfers not accepted).

Step 4 – Evaluation & Interview
CUFE conducts document review, academic evaluation, and online interviews.
Shortlisted candidates will receive instructions by email.

Step 5 – Final Review
Recommended candidates are submitted to the China Scholarship Council (CSC) for expert review.
Final admission results are published after CSC approval.
