The ISSP (International Summer Student Programme) at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) offers undergraduate students an opportunity to engage in hands-on research over eight weeks, working closely with scientists at HZB campuses. Students propose their own research project and participate in a themed scientific environment.
The programme runs annually during summer in Berlin. It includes lab work, visits to research facilities, workshops, and final presentations. It's open to talented students from around the world in scientific fields.

Eligibility :
Must be an undergraduate student at time of application
Major in science, engineering, physics, chemistry, materials, or related disciplines
Completed at least two years of full-time study at university
Enrollment must remain active during the summer program
Good command of English is required (German is a plus)

Academic transcripts
Certificate of enrolment valid through the program period
CV / résumé
A letter of recommendation from a professor or supervisor
Copy of passport
Project proposal or research interest statement
How to apply :
Access the HZB ISSP application portal during the application window
Fill in all required fields and upload required documents in English or German
Indicate your research interests and propose a project topic
Submit the application before the published deadline
Shortlisted candidates are selected and notified via email
Accepted participants travel to Berlin, engage in language/orientation, then start the research period
