Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a financial assistance offered by the Indonesian Government to prospective international students coming from developing countries to pursue their master’s degree in one of Indonesian universities.
The scholarship was conceived in the 10th Conference of Heads of States of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries, 1 st–6 th September 1992. The Government of Republic of Indonesia began to offerthe scholarship to potential studentsfromNAM member countriesinthe following year. The regional exclusiveness of the scholarship wasrevoked in 2002 since it had developed global interest. It was then the scholarship was officially renamed as Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship (KNB) and the recipients were no longer limited to NAM member countries.
To date, the scholarship has also been offered to other developing countries in Asia, Pacific, South America, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Eventually, the scholarship is expected to build the people-to-people relations between Indonesia and the recipient countries. It aims at nurturing their future leaders. KNB offers an experience ofstudying in top universitiesin Indonesia and at the same me living in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant society.

Maximum age limit:
Doctorate Degree Scholarship: 40 years old
Master Degree Scholarship: 35 years old
Bachelor Degree Scholarship: 25 years old
Hold a relevant degree for the scholarship applied for:
Doctorate Degree Scholarship: Master degree
Master Degree Scholarship: Bachelor degree
Bachelor Degree Scholarship: High school degree (Please provide scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English.
Note that holders of higher degree than the scholarship applied for are not eligible to apply.)
English proficiency test score:
Doctorate Degree Scholarship: TOEFL IBT 90 or IELTS 7.0 or equivalent
Master Degree Scholarship: TOEFL IBT 80 or IELTS 6.0 or TOEIC 700
Bachelor Degree Scholarship: TOEFL IBT 80 or IELTS 6.0 or TOEIC 700 (The certificate must be obtained within the last 2 years)
Provide recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from:
The potential research supervisor (Doctorate Degree Scholarship only)
The Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General
The employer/immediate supervisor
Previous schools
Prove of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).

How to apply :
Step 1: Download the Invitation Letter from the KNB Scholarship website (https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id)
Step 2: Submit the Invitation letter, Passport, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts to the Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate to acquire the recommendation letter
Step 3: Complete the online application process on the KNB Scholarship website
Step 4: Selection process conducted by the universities
Step 5: Selection Results will be announced online through the KNB Scholarship Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication network.
Note: Be sure to collect information on the universities and desired study program, as changing either once admitted is prohibited. Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy is mandatory. All required documents must be written or officially translated in English. English speaking countries should prove their English proficiency. The universities will conduct an online interview if necessary.
The Scholarship Benefits:
New students will receive a Settlement Allowance of IDR 1,500,000 upon arrival in Indonesia.
During the Indonesian language course and preparatory programs, students will receive a Living Allowance and Books Allowance distributed monthly.
During the academic program, KNB students will receive a monthly allowance that includes Living Allowance, Research Allowance and Books Allowance.
Students will have a health insurance with a maximum monthly premium of IDR 400,000. Any additional medical costs beyond the coverage of the insurance will be the student's responsibility.
Students will receive a round-trip international airfare (economy class) from their home country to Indonesia, including local transportation to the host university.
