PhD Positions at the Munich School for Data Science (MUDS)
More details :
PhD positions at the Munich School for Data Science (MUDS) are not traditional scholarships. They are fully paid employment contracts within the Helmholtz Association, one of Germany’s leading research institutions. This means that as a PhD candidate you are not just a student but also a staff member with a secure salary, social insurance, and all benefits of an employee in the German public research sector. You join a vibrant international community, gain access to cutting-edge facilities, and receive structured training designed to prepare you for both academic and industry careers.
What makes these positions especially valuable is the legal and career pathway they create. Since PhD contracts count as regular employment, they qualify you for Germany’s residence permits for skilled workers. This allows you to build a long-term future in the country. With continuous employment, you can apply for permanent residence in as little as 21 to 36 months, and later for German nationality. Working at MUDS is therefore more than a research opportunity—it is a life-changing step toward professional development, personal stability, and integration into one of Europe’s strongest scientific ecosystems.
