The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to invite applications for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship (BDGS) for the 2026/2027 academic session. This prestigious initiative offers international students the unique opportunity to pursue diverse academic pathways, including Diploma, Undergraduate Degree, and Postgraduate Master’s Degree programs. By fostering global educational exchange, Brunei Darussalam aims to welcome talented individuals to its leading higher education institutions to achieve academic excellence.
Successful applicants will be enrolled in one of five premier institutions: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), or Politeknik Brunei (PB). The academic year is scheduled to commence in July/August 2026, providing students with a comprehensive educational experience integrated into the rich cultural and professional landscape of Brunei.
This scholarship is highly comprehensive, covering full tuition fees, airfare, and providing a monthly personal and meals allowance. Beyond financial support, the program is designed to immerse recipients in Brunei’s peaceful and vibrant environment, though it remains a competitive process.
Eligibility :
Nationality: Open to international students (non-Brunei residents).
Age Limits:
Undergraduate & Diploma: 18–25 years old.
Postgraduate Master’s: Maximum 35 years old.
Language Proficiency: Must demonstrate English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL/O-Level) or Malay/Arabic where applicable.
Health: Must be certified medically fit to study in Brunei Darussalam.
Exclusivity: Cannot hold any other scholarship or grant concurrently without prior approval.
Required documents :
Identity: Passport photo, Passport, and/or Birth Certificate.
Academic Records: Certificates, transcripts, and testimonials.
Language Proficiency: English certification (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.).
Translations: Certified English translations for any non-English documents.
Professional Records: Proof of employment (if applicable).
Recommendations: Letters from two (2) referees.
Research Proposal: Required for Research Programmes only.

The Scholarship Benefits:
The Government of Brunei Darussalam provides a fully funded package including:
Full Tuition: Exemption from all registration and tuition fees.
Airfare: One economy class return ticket to and from Brunei.
Monthly Allowances: BND$500.00 (Personal) and BND$150.00 (Meals).
Book Allowance: BND$600.00 per year.
Accommodation: Provided at the residential college of the institution.
Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance for the duration of the scholarship.
Baggage Allowance: For personal effects upon completion of the program.
