Eligibility :
Nationality: Applicants must be international students with the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
Academic Excellence: Applicants should have an outstanding academic record. Those who have already graduated from their latest degree program must have a final grade point of 2.30 or higher. Current students must maintain a grade point of 2.30 or higher in their current courses and are expected to sustain the same academic standards throughout the scholarship.
Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet the English language proficiency criteria set by the scholarship guidelines.
Age Requirement: Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1990.
Field of Study: The field of study should be the same or related to what they studied at their previous university. Additionally, applicants should be able to conduct research in this field at the host university in Japan.
Health: Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy to pursue their studies in Japan.
Arrival in Japan: In principle, applicants should be able to arrive in Japan by a date specified by the accepting university, typically within two weeks before or after the first day of the semester.

The Scholarship Benefits:
Tuition and Enrollment Fees: All tuition and enrollment fees are fully exempted for the duration of the scholarship.
Monthly Allowance:
Master’s Program: 144,000 yen per month.
Doctoral Program: 145,000 yen per month.
An additional stipend of 2,000 or 3,000 yen may be provided to students conducting research in certain designated regions of Japan.
Travel Expenses: The scholarship covers an economy class air ticket for recipients to travel from their home country to Japan at the beginning of the scholarship period. MEXT also provides an airline ticket for recipients returning to their home country within the final month of the scholarship period.
Duration of Scholarship:
For Master’s Program: October 2025 – September 2027 (2 years).
For Doctoral Program: October 2025 – September 2028 (3 years).
