Eligibility :

Applicants for these Fellowships must meet the following criteria:

  • Be permanent residents and nationals of a developing country.

  • Candidates from Science and Technology Lagging countries (STLC) and women are especially encouraged to apply.

  • Residency Status

    • Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Turkey or any developed country.

    • Applicants already residing in Turkey are not eligible for this fellowship.

  • Educational Background: Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in natural and related applied sciences, specifically in the fields mentioned in the call.

  • Age Requirement: Be no older than 35 years by 31 December of the application year.

  • PhD Registration

    • By the application deadline, applicants must be registered in a PhD program in natural and related applied sciences in their home country or another developing country.

    • Applicants must have passed the PhD qualifying exam or be in an advanced stage of their PhD research. This must be certified with a Registration & No Objection Certificate issued within three months of the application date.

  • Host Institution: Provide an official Acceptance Letter from an eligible department, institution, or laboratory at a public or private university in Turkey or TÜBİTAK Research Centers and Institutes.  The acceptance letter must be signed by the highest authority of the host institution (rector or authorized vice-chancellor for universities, or the director for research centers).

  • Research Proposal: Submit a Research Proposal in the format specified by TÜBİTAK.

  • English Proficiency: Provide evidence of English proficiency (test scores or certification from the previous institution). If your medium of education was English, submit a signed statement indicating the level of your English education.

  • Commitment: Must not take on any other assignments during the fellowship period.
    Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.

  • Previous Fellowship: Applicants who have previously received or been awarded a fellowship under this program are not eligible.

  • Return to Home Country: Upon completion of the fellowship, applicants must return to their home country.

  • Acceptance Letter: A signed official acceptance letter from a host institution in Turkey (public or private university, or TÜBİTAK Research Center). This letter must be signed by the highest authority of the host institution (e.g., rector or authorized vice-chancellor).

  • Registration & No Objection Certificate: If already registered in a PhD program, applicants must provide a No Objection Certificate from their current institution, issued within three months before the application date. This document confirms the applicant’s registration and research timeline.

  • Research Proposal: A detailed research proposal prepared according to the guidelines set by TÜBİTAK. The format for this can be downloaded from the TÜBİTAK website.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): A detailed CV outlining your academic qualifications, previous research experience, and any relevant publications or awards.

  • Academic Transcripts and Certificates: Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates for both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, along with a record of your grades.

  • Proof of English Proficiency: Provide a certificate of English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS score or other recognized exams). If English was the medium of instruction in previous studies, submit a signed statement indicating this.

  • Two Reference Letters: Submit two letters of recommendation from academic referees or professional supervisors who can attest to your qualifications and potential for the fellowship.

  • Passport Copy: A copy of your passport for identification and nationality verification.

How to apply :
  • Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet all the eligibility criteria, such as nationality, academic background, and PhD registration, before proceeding with the application.

  • Contact Host Institutions: Identify a suitable host institution in Turkey. This could be a public or private university or TÜBİTAK Research Centers and Institutes.
